Clear Braces Instead of Conventional Wires and Brackets

Although conventional braces will get the job done, not everyone requires old school wires and brackets. Clear braces could be the alternative if the thought of wearing braces that are permanently attached to your teeth for up to two years turns your stomach.

At our Centerport Dental Center in Downtown Portland, we use the Invisalign® system that corrects tipped, rotated, or tilted teeth. Invisalign® can also help your teeth move into place if you have a space between your front teeth that you have never cared for.

Although not everyone is a good candidate for clear braces, you just may be. However, the only way you will know for sure if Invisalign® is right for you is to schedule an appointment with my dentist office in Downtown Portland.

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® uses soft plastic aligners to move your teeth into the desired place. If you are a candidate for Invisalign®, I will issue between 11 and 31 sets of Invisalign® clear braces that you will swap out every 7 to 14 days depending on your customized Invisalign® plan.

What is the Invisalign® Plan?

During your appointment, digital photos and possibly x-rays will be taken along with a thorough dental examination. This will help our team determine how many aligners you will require and how long you will need to wear your new invisible braces. Some patients will only need to wear Invisalign® for 6 months, while the average patient will need to wear the invisible trays for 12 to 18 months.

How Does Invisalign® Work?

The clear braces from Invisalign® gently moves your teeth into position as you replace your aligners every one to two weeks. Unlike conventional wires and brackets, which need to be pulled and pushed during adjustments, which can occur every two weeks, Invisalign® is the comfortable alternative to braces.

How Do I Use Invisalign®?

You will wear your clear braces between 20 and 22 hours every day. You will remove your aligners when you enjoy a meal, brush, and floss. With removable aligners, you will not have to worry about tooth decay or gum disease, which can be a real problem with conventional wires and brackets. Of course, you still need to practice good oral hygiene habits.
