Restorative Dentistry

Centerport Dental in Downtown Portland uses dental porcelains to replicate natural teeth in both dental crowns and porcelain veneers. Although dental porcelains reflect natural light and share similar characteristics to your natural teeth, one cosmetic dental treatment may be better for your particular situation than the other.

Restorative dentistry can boost your self-confidence and fix those damaged, decayed, and missing teeth. Restorative dentistry in Portland also prevents your other teeth from becoming damaged or decayed.

Good oral hygiene habits, such as brushing twice and flossing once every day along with a healthy diet and regular checkups with your dentist in Portland will help keep your teeth and gums healthy, but teeth can become decayed, gums can become diseased and teeth can break, chip or crack. Cosmetic dentistry can help replace your smile with dental porcelains that will look and feel like your natural teeth.

Restorative dentistry can boost your self-confidence and fix those damaged, decayed, and missing teeth. Restorative dentistry in Portland also prevents your other teeth from becoming damaged or decayed.

  • Porcelain Veneers -Thin sheets of dental resin or porcelain that is placed over the fronts of teeth.
  • Inlays/ Onlays-Onlays and inlays are used to correct damaged teeth that are too far gone for a filling, but really don’t require a dental crown. Inlays are placed between the points on the top of your teeth, or the cusps, while onlays are applied to one or multiple cusps.
  • Caps/Crowns – Custom made to cap or crown your existing tooth or teeth, dental crowns are often used to strengthen a severely damaged tooth, to strengthen a tooth after a root canal and as a cap of a dental implant post.
  • Dental implant – Dental Implants are used by your dentist in Portland to replace missing teeth. Dental implants are posts or screws that are made of titanium. The post is surgically placed into your jawbone before a dental crown or cap is placed on top after your jawbone has healed.
  • Bridges/Partials – Partials or dental bridges are used by your dentist to replace more than one missing tooth. Partials or dental bridges are a more economical way to replace missing teeth.

Why Porcelain?

At Centerport Dental, we prefer to use dental porcelain, also known as dental ceramic, because it performs, looks, and feels just like your natural tooth enamel. Porcelain reflects light in the same way as the rest of your teeth, so there’s no significant difference in a porcelain crown or filling and the enamel around it. The only thing to consider with porcelain is that it does not stain or discolor at the same rate as your natural tooth enamel — so keeping the surrounding teeth healthy, clean, and minimizing exposure to highly pigmented foods and beverages is important.

And did you know that with CEREC technology, Dr. Wang can plan for, create, and place your porcelain restorations in just one visit to our office? We value your time as much as you do — and that’s why we are proud to offer same day dentistry wherever possible.
