Implant Dentistry in Portland, OR
A dental implant is basically a fabricated tooth root that is inserted into the jaw. It is designed to hold and secure a custom tooth, or set of teeth. Implant dentistry has quickly become the benchmark for teeth replacement. Implants look and feel completely natural especially when compared to the alternative treatments available like bridges and dentures. It’s no wonder so many people are increasingly hesitant to accept lesser treatment options. The team at Centerport Family & Implant Dentistry will get to know you and discuss the many factors that will help you discover if implant dentistry is the right choice for you.

Types of Implant Dentistry
A single tooth implant is frequently the most straight forward treatment. Often all that is needed is a single implant and crown.
If you are missing several teeth there are a few other options available to restoring your smile. This could include multiple implants that support a single tooth, or an implant-supported bridge for teeth that are adjacent to one another.
Full Teeth Replacement
For replacing an entire row of teeth either in the lower or upper jaw an implant-supported full bridge can be used. This bridge will connect to a number of implants that are integrated in either the upper or lower jaw.
A bone graft essentially restores the foundation of bone in the jaw, enabling the jaw to retain an implant. In cases where a tooth has been missing for a period of time, past gum disease, injury, or natural defect, a bone graft may be necessary to proceed with implant placement.
This procedure is normally done for implants in the back of the upper jaw. Since that area often lacks sufficient bone material to fully support an implant, a sinus augmentation is done by raising the sinus floor and making new bone for the area where the implant will be placed.
